I recently rewatched one of my favourite movies ever - Frequency, starring Dennis Quaid and James Caviezel. It sounds like this crazy time-travel story - though it isn't actually time-travel because no one leaves their time - which involves changing the past and saving people's lives and, oh, did I mention that there's a serial killer, too? Basically, Jim Caviezel plays John Sullivan, who, in 1999, finds his father's old amateur radio. Due to solar storms, he finds himself talking to his father, who is still in 1969. The problem? He knows that his dad dies the next day (in '69). I don't want to give too much away, but the two of them end up changing the past (Frank's, the dad's, present), and trying to catch a serial killer.

But underneath all that, it's really just a very sweet, touching story about a father and son getting to know each other again. John talking to a dad he lost thirty years ago, and Frank getting to know his son as an adult. It's so wonderfully sweet, and it kind of makes me teary sometimes.

And now, to get to the point, does anyone have any movie recs with something along the same lines? Not the time-travel bit, but do you know of any really good father-son relationship stories? I'm bored out of my mind right now, so I'm looking for books, TV shows, movies... anything, really. I'm not a huge fan of horror or supernatural, but I'll give pretty much anything a chance.

Thanks!

I love Frequency!! The only other movie I can think of that's got an amazing father-son story is Field of Dreams.

Thanks! I've heard good things about Field of Dreams, but all I could think of whenever I heard its name was "baseball movie". Now I'm going to have to check it out :D
